<br />Vice Mayor Foust - stated that the Redwood Shores Community Association <br />received grant funding from the City of Redwood City through the Cultural <br />Commission to conduct three jazz concerts. In Redwood Shores, the concerts take <br />place on June 29, July 27 and August 31 at Marlin Park - refer to redwoodcity.org. <br />The Stafford Park concerts are on Wednesdays and the Live in Downtown on <br />Fridays. A second topic mentioned was a rash of burglaries in the Redwood <br />Shores neighborhood and that several reports from the Police Chief along with a <br />press release from the City Manager and Mayor have been issued concerning <br />awareness. The burglaries are occurring during the daytime hours and neighbors <br />are working together to report any suspicious behavior to the Police Departrnent <br />noting specific details of vehicle descriptions, etc. <br /> <br />Council Member Ira - stated his concern in making sure that there is no <br />duplication of services or competition between prograrns, especially, in the <br />children's programs. He asked that there be coordination and utilization of dollars <br />in the best possible way. <br /> <br />Council Member Bain - stated that since the Council discussion of unrestricted <br />intersections, he has received two petitions frorn two of the five intersections <br />discussed. He will submit the petitions to staff and look forward to the forthcoming <br />staff report. <br /> <br />Mayor Pierce - stated that she had attended a conference sponsored by the <br />Water Transit Agency and some presentations pertained to high density housing <br />in port areas, such as Vancouver, Hercules and Alameda. She stated that the <br />public process undertaken by Hercules was outstanding and that the cornrnunity <br />seemed to have a strong overall understanding and buy-in for their proposal. <br /> <br />She further stated that on June 27 there would be representatives from various <br />jurisdictions traveling to Sacrarnento to hear and speak about AB 2987 which <br />would establish a new state bureaucracy to issue franchises for cable and video <br />service providers, preempting most local government powers. The Senators are <br />set to vote on it on Tuesday. <br /> <br />9. ADJOURNMENT - 9:00 p.rn. <br /> <br />M/S Ira/Foust to adjourn to the next City Council meeting of July 10, 2006.
