OpenGov software is designed to improve municipal agencies' operational
efficiencies, such as collaborative budget development and reporting, as well as promote government
accountability with better citizen engagement and transparency tools. Over 2,000 public agencies in 49
states use OpenGov software. The OpenGov platform will sit on top of the City's new ERP.
Three vendors proposed Budgeting and Planning functionality: OpenGov, Oracle Fusion, and Tyler Munis.
OpenGov's solution was selected due to its ability to provide enhanced budget book production, online
dashboards and interactive data, and the ability to engage with residents online regarding important
policy and financial issues.
In addition to OpenGov's Budgeting and Planning module, the agreement with OpenGov includes an
Organizational Performance and Citizen Engagement modules. The Organizational Performance module
allows staff to create online dashboards and drill -down charts and graphs of relevant data for staff and
residents to measure performance against the budget and City Council's strategic initiatives. The Citizen
Engagement module allows for a robust electronic interaction with residents, which features online
polling and detailed storytelling of programs initiated by the City.
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
11
