6.C. - Page 1 of 11 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: April 8, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Amendment No. 1 to Agreement for Professional Services with Mark Thomas & Company, Inc. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No.1 to Agreement for Professional <br />Services with Mark Thomas & Company, Inc. in the amount of $40,000 (for a total amount of $188,775) <br />regarding the Redwood City Bridges Repair Project <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Public Safety <br />BACKGROUND <br />Bridge inspections and the Highway Bridge Repair and Replacement Program (HBRRP) of the Federal <br />Highway Administration (FHWA) requires that every highway bridge and structure in the country be <br />inspected every two years for adequacy. In California, Caltrans Division of Structures is the agency that <br />performs these inspections and administers the funds under the Local Highway Bridge Program (HBP). <br />Redwood City has thirteen bridges that are subject to these inspections. Staff has received and reviewed <br />the inspection reports produced by Caltrans. Caltrans recommended that the City to perform repairs on <br />the bridge over Redwood Shores Lagoon, which is listed in the National Bridge Inventory (NBI) as two <br />independent bridges outlined below. <br />1. Bridge Parkway Bridge for northwest bound traffic, and <br />2. Bridge Parkway Bridge for southeast -bound traffic <br />On October 29, 2010, the City executed an Agreement for Professional Services with Mark Thomas & <br />Company, Inc. for the amount of $148,775.00 to design and prepare the Plans and Specifications for the <br />implementation of the recommended repairs on the two bridges.
