<br />public inspection. <br /> <br />The City Manager shall report on such bids at the <br /> <br />next regular legislative meeting of the City Council and <br /> <br />shall make his recommendations thereon.1I <br /> <br />Section 6. <br /> <br />Section 2.68 of the Redwood City Code is <br /> <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Every contract for any public work or <br /> <br />IISection 2.68 <br /> <br />improvement and every contract for the purchase of materials, <br /> <br />equipment or supplies costing more than Five Thousand and <br /> <br />NO/IOO Dollars ($5,000.00) shall be awarded by the City <br /> <br />Council to the lowest responsible bidder. <br /> <br />The City Council <br /> <br />shall have the power to reject any and all bids and to <br /> <br />solicit or advertise again or provide for such work to be <br /> <br />done pursuant to Section 68 of the Charter. <br /> <br />The Council may waive any irregularities in bids <br /> <br />received or permit the correction of erroneous bids when the <br /> <br />Council finds that the irregularity or error was not the <br /> <br />result of fraudulent intent on the part of the bidder and <br /> <br />that the best interests of the public would be served <br /> <br />thereby. II <br /> <br />Section 7. <br /> <br />Section 2.71 of the Redwood City Code is <br /> <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />IISection 2.71 <br /> <br />The written solicitation or the <br /> <br />public notice inviting bids may prescribe that the successful <br /> <br />bidder shall furnish a performance bond in such amount as <br /> <br />the City Manager may find reasonably necessary to protect the <br /> <br />best interests of the City. <br /> <br />Such bond shall be executed by <br /> <br />a corporate surety authorized to do business in the State <br /> <br />which is acceptable to the City Manager.
