Due to the high cost of the replacement pole and mast arm installation, this repair was not
covered under the bid items in the Emergency Electrical Services bid. The City should
receive reimbursement for the repairs from the insurance company of the driver that
caused the collision.

Fiscal Impact
This $19,298 expenditure amounts to 93% of the entire budgeted amount of $20,620 for
fiscal year 2002/03 for traffic signal / street light pole knock-downs. The initial response
covered under the emergency electrical repairs contract was $3,127. The combination of
these two expenditures exceeds the entire budgeted amount for fiscal year 2002/03.
However, the City should receive full reimbursement from the driver's insurance company
for this incident. With reimbursement, staff will be able to complete our budgeted
objectives as approved by Council. Staff will return to Council for a budget adjustment
later this fiscal year.

G~don Mann Peter Ingram ~J~ Ed Everett
Public Works Superintendent Director, Public Works Services City Manager

Attachments
none
