excavation. Sites may require greater or lesser excavation and greater tree root removal <br />if the existing grade has been raised above or settled below final grade. Where <br />sidewalks or curb and gutter are relocated for ADA ramp installation, additional <br />excavation may be required. Where root pruning is required, the sidewalk shall be <br />removed and excavation shall not occur until after root cutting is performed. Contractor <br />is responsible for the repair of existing irrigation systems. <br />f. Measurements: Sidewalks shall be measured and paid to the nearest square foot <br />exclusive of the curb and gutter. Curb and gutter shall be measured and paid to the <br />nearest linear foot. ADA ramps shall be paid per unit installed. Additional sub -base <br />excavation materials shall be paid to the nearest tenth cubic yard. <br />g. Asphalt replacement must be IN-KIND. <br />3. Hours of Construction <br />a. Contractor shall perform services from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, <br />unless otherwise specified for off-peak hours. <br />b. Contractor shall not schedule construction activities on holidays and/or weekends and <br />other City declared holidays. <br />4. Contractor shall notify property owners of upcoming work at their location. <br />a. Contractor shall post "No Parking" signs at least seventy-two (72) hours prior to the <br />start of work. Signs shall be furnished by the City. <br />b. Contractor shall notify residents, businesses, or others located near a work site seven (7) <br />days prior to the start of work. <br />5. Contractor shall prepare and secure sites at end of each workday at various locations <br />throughout the City. <br />a. The Contractor shall keep the sidewalk open at all times unless a trench location makes <br />closure unavoidable, in which case the sidewalk may be closed while working. The <br />Contractor shall make provisions for pedestrian access if sidewalk is closed. Open <br />trenches are not allowed overnight. Steel plating with cut back shall be installed until <br />temporary surfacing can be constructed. <br />b. The Contractor shall maintain access to all driveways, except when actually doing <br />construction within the driveway boundaries, at which time, partial access will be <br />maintained unless alternate arrangements can be made with the property owners or <br />tenants in advance.
