6.B. - Page 3 of 8
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds for the Magical Bridge Playground have been appropriated in the Capital Improvement Program
(Park Impact Fees) and significant fundraising efforts have been undertaken in partnership with the
Magical Bridge Playground Foundation. T h r e e m i l l i o n d o l l a r s has been raised by the Magical
Bridge Foundation and the remaining construction and consultant budget of nearly $3.4 million has been
provided by the City through the park impact fees from residential developments. The additional
$235,524 to increase time and scope of the architectural agreement would come from unencumbered
Park Impact Fees. A FY 2018-19 year-end budget amendment for the $235,524 will be submitted for City Council
approval in June.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The entire Magical Bridge Playground Project is categorically exempt from the requirements of the
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) per Sections 15302 (Replacement or Reconstruction), 15304
(Minor Alterations of Land), and 15311 (Accessory Structures) of the CEQA guidelines because it consists
of the replacement and reconstruction of existing facilities along with minor alterations to the park land
and the construction of new accessory park structures. Approval of Amendment No. 3 is not a project
under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as defined in CEQA Guidelines, section 15378, because
it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the
environment.
PUBLIC NOTICE
Public Notification was achieved by posting the agenda, with the agenda items being listed, at least 72
hours prior to the meeting.
ALTERNATIVES
The City Council may direct staff to separately bid for construction support services.
ATTACHMENTS
Attachment A: Amendment No. 3 to Agreement
REPORT PREPARED BY:
Chris Beth, Parks and Recreation Director
cbeth@redwoodcity.org
(650) 780-7253
APPROVED BY:
Melissa Stevenson Diaz, City Manager
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
26
