6.F. - Page 1 of 13 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: April 22, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Purchase of a new Aerial Fire Apparatus from Pierce Manufacturing, Inc. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute a Purchase Agreement for one 107' Arrow <br />XT Tiller in the amount of $1,284,360.39 from Pierce Manufacturing, Inc. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Public Safety <br />BACKGROUND <br />Redwood City's Fleet Replacement Program is designed to provide a structure for evaluating vehicles and <br />equipment in order to replace them at the most economically advantageous point in their life cycle. At <br />pre -determined intervals, vehicles and equipment undergo a thorough evaluation including but not <br />limited to, age, mileage, condition, maintenance history, downtime, anticipated future repairs, usage, and <br />vehicle capabilities. <br />The Redwood City Fire Department (RCFD) has one aerial fire apparatus that is scheduled for replacement <br />in the current fiscal year. Following extensive operational analysis and market research, representatives <br />from the Fire Department and the Public Works Services Department (PWS) have agreed that the <br />replacement apparatus should be 107' Arrow XT Tiller, as it will meet the performance requirements of <br />the Fire Department. <br />The City of Philadelphia conducted a request for bids in 2017 for Aerial Fire Apparatus—Compact Design <br />and Pierce Manufacturing, Inc. was found to be the lowest responsible bidder and was awarded the <br />contract.
