Perform minor and moderately complex mechanical work on equipment and vehicles. <br /> Understand and carry out oral and written directions. <br /> <br /> Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others. <br /> <br /> Physical Characteristics: <br /> <br /> Must be able to lift heavy objects. Perform manual labor and be in sufficiently good <br /> health to perform job tasks. <br /> <br /> Exoerience and Education <br /> <br /> Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required <br /> knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities <br /> would be: <br /> <br /> Exoerience: <br /> Two years assisting skilled mechanics in servicing and repair work. <br /> <br /> Edg~ation: <br /> Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade is desirable. <br /> <br /> Licenses and Certificates <br /> <br /> Driver License: Possession of a valid California license at the appropriate level <br /> including special endorsements, as required by the State of California to perform the <br /> essential job functions of the position. <br /> <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Equipment Mechanic II <br /> <br />In addition to the qualifications for Equipment Mechanic I: <br /> <br /> Knowledoe of: <br /> <br /> Fundamentals of automotive technology. <br /> <br /> Current repair methods, tools, diagnostic equipment and parts used in minor and major <br /> repair of vehicles and equipment. <br /> <br /> Operating and repair characteristics of the entire range of City-owned vehicles and <br /> equipment. <br /> <br /> Training and communication techniques. <br /> <br /> Industry repair standards in the automotive and equipment fields. <br /> <br /> Ability to: <br /> <br /> Train skilled and semi-skilled mechanics. <br /> <br /> 06/10/99 <br /> <br /> 13661 <br /> <br /> <br />
