EXHIBIT "A" - <br /> <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> RECREATION SPECIALIST <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />To develop, conduct and supervise recreation activities and part-time casual recreation <br />staff at various Parks, Recreation and Community Services sites. Some examples of <br />responsibilities included in the Recreation Specialist series are: athletic director, camp <br />director, playground specialist, after-school site director, and teen program director. <br />This position typically oversees a seasonal program consisting of part-time recreation <br />leaders and between 20-100 recreation participants. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />Recreation Program Coordinators, Assistant Recreation Center Supervisors or Parks, <br />Recreation and Community Services Managers provide supervision. <br /> <br />Responsibilities will include direct supervision of casual Recreation Leaders, Recreation <br />Leader Aides or volunteers. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES <br /> <br />Plan, conduct and implement recreation activities for youth and/or adults. <br /> <br />Oversee and supervise a variety of recreation activities which may include, but are not <br />limited to: arts and crafts, organized games, team games, sports, drama, social <br />recreation and music/singing activities. <br /> <br />Direct recreation participants, and implement disciplinary measures as appropriate; <br />insure that proper safety precautions are observed in assigned activities and free play. <br /> <br />Issue, receive and oversee the use of equipment and materials, which includes the <br />appropriate care and maintenance of equipment. <br /> <br />Prepare activity calendars, bulletin boards, lesson plans or coaching strategies as <br />appropriate to help promote and plan recreation activities more effectively. <br /> <br />Report to supervisors orally and in writing on activities, groups or individuals, plans and <br />problems <br /> <br />Follow Departmental and citywide rules and regulations as they relate to the supervision <br />of recreation participants and general work procedures. <br /> <br />OTHER JOB RELATED DUTIES <br /> <br />Provide daily on-site supervision of other program staff, as assigned. <br /> <br /> 13630 <br /> <br /> <br />
