<br />6.10 <br />Page 56 <br /> <br />SECTION 24 - GENERAL PROVISIONS <br /> <br />24.1 Damaged or Lost Property <br /> <br />Damage and loss of any Fire Department property or employee's personal <br />property shall be reviewed by an investigating committee, composed of a <br />representative designated by the Fire Chief and a member of the Redwood City <br />Fire Department designated by the Union, in order to determine the <br />responsibility for the damage or loss and method and amount of compensation. <br /> <br />24.2 Release of Information <br /> <br />The City shall release information to creditors only upon proper identification of <br />the creditor and an acceptable reason for the inquiry. Information released <br />shall be limited to verification of employment, length of employment and <br />verification of salary information if the creditor inquiring first states the correct <br />salary to the City. <br /> <br />24.3 Grooming <br /> <br />Employees shall present a neat appearance at all times. Hair shall not extend <br />below the bottom of the collar. Hair shall be styled so that it is not below the <br />bottom of the ear or down the side of the face. Mustaches are not to interfere <br />with the seal of a face mask. <br /> <br />24.4 Employee Personal Locker <br /> <br />An employee1s personal locker may be opened in the employee1s presence, with <br />the employee's consent, with a valid search warrant or where the employee has <br />been notified that a search will be conducted. <br /> <br />24.5 Smoking or Chewing of Tobacco Products <br /> <br />Employees shall be prohibited from smoking cigarettes, cigars, pipes, or <br />chewing tobacco within any Redwood City Fire Station. <br /> <br />24.6 Garnishments <br /> <br />Effective April 1, 1988, whenever the City is compelled by appropriate legal <br />process to implement a garnishment on the wages of an employee more than <br />once, for each garnishment beyond the original one, the City shall be entitled <br />to deduct from the paycheck of the employee a service charge in the amount <br />of twenty five dollars ($25.00) for setting up the procedure. <br /> <br />24.7 Shift Trades <br /> <br />The City agrees that employees who are assigned to the Fire Unit may, with the <br />written approval of their supervisor, trade duty periods or portions thereof with <br /> <br />49 <br />
