Recommendation It is recommended that the City Council, by motion, authorize a new Memorandum of Understanding with the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2400. Background The City and the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2400 (I.A.F.F. Local 2400) have met and conferred on all matters relating to the terms and conditions of employment and have reached a tentative agreement on a new Memorandum of Understanding, subject to Council approval. The following is a summary of the specific changes tentatively agreed to with I.A.F.F. Local 2400. Term: January 1 , 2006 through December 31 , 2009 Salary First year - no salary increase effective pay period closest to January 1, 2006. Second year - salary formula effective pay period closest to January 1,2007. Third year - salary formula effective pay period closest to January 1, 2008. Fourth year - salary formula effective pay period closest to January 1, 2009. Retirement: Effective within six months of Council approval of MOU, the City will contract with PERS to amend it's current contract to offer the fourth level of 1959 survivor benefits for Fire Safety Members. Dental: Effective first of the month following Council approval of MOU, the City will increase lifetime cap for orthodonture coverage to $1 ,500.00. The current cap is $1,000.00. Vision: Effective first of the month following Council approval of MOU, the City will provide vision coverage. The coverage will include an exam every 12 months, lenses every 12 months if needed, frames every 2 years if needed, with $20.00 deductible for dependents.
