EXHIBIT A <br /> <br /> City of Redwood City <br /> Public Works Services <br /> Urban Forestry Specialist <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />To serve as the Urban Forestry Specialist for the Right-of-Way Maintenance Division. <br />Under general direction, oversees the work of Public Works Services employees in <br />various classifications; inspects street and park trees to determine their maintenance <br />needs, inspects and makes determinations on private trees for the Tree Preservation <br />Ordinance process; maintains superviso~ control and data integrity of the <br />computerized inventory system; reviews tree preservation issues on public and private <br />properties; maintains supervisory control over tree maintenance contractors; inspects <br />and makes determinations on street tree planting; meets and interacts with the public <br />and other Cib7 staff to make determinations on tree policy issues on public and private <br />properties; and performs other specialized urban forest management functions as <br />assigned. <br /> <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br /> <br />This is the most advanced journey level class in the Tree Maintenance series. The <br />Urban Forestr~ Specialist coordinates scheduling, assigning and reviewing the work of <br />more junior employees and contractors. This position is characterized by the ability to <br />perform the most complex and skilled tree maintenance tasks, the requirement to <br />provide technical and job related guidance and training to others in a variety of skilled <br />areas and the requirement to make sound technical decisions about the health, <br />condition, mitigation and safeb7 of trees. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />General direction is provided by a Public Works Services manager at the division level. <br /> <br />Responsibilities may include functional and technical supervision over Tree <br />Maintenance Lead Worker, Tree Maintenance Workers 1/11, casual labor, and <br />contractors related to tree maintenance procedures. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL AND IMPORTANT DUTIES <br /> <br />1.
