1. 2000 City e-News e-mails (from the City Manager's Office) were sent out
2. 7,766 Department Recreation e-News e-mails were sent out
3. All information relating to this topic was posted on the City Website
4. 2 local newspapers ran articles

Superintendent Hover listed park rule changes where the Commission indicated
that there was consensus at the August meeting:

1. Permits for 15 foot or more structures
2. Amplified Sound
3. Drug Free Zone
4. Prohibited Activities
5. 6 foot dog leash
6. Name of the Department

He next highlighted the areas where the Commission could not agree:

1. Permits for group sizes (over 25 or over 50)
2. Permits for BBQ's at approved sites only

Superintendent Hover then explained to the Commission that the management,
supervision and enforcement of park rules is a separate issue from the rules.
Superintendent Hover suggested that a separate task force of staff and
Commissioners be developed to come back to the Commission with suggestions
and options for management of park rules.

Chairperson Slusser commented that he likes that approach and then opened up
the meeting for public comment.

Redwood City Resident Elizabeth Travers opened up her comments by reading a
letter from neighbor Pamela Gearhart (Lowell St.). In brief the letter described:

1. The updating of the park is beautiful
2. There are more people, more noise and more garbage as a result of update.
3. Urged the Commission not to allow additional BBQ's either installed by the
City or brought in by park users
4. Urged the Commission not to allow jumping structures
5. Urged the Commission to limit park reservations to no more than 25 people.
6. Felt that cockroaches in her garage are because of the extra trash left at
Stafford Park
7. Felt that people who wanted to reserve for a larger group, having jumping
structures and extra BBQ's could use Red Morton Park

Next, Mrs. Travers read a letter she wrote which described:

1. Concern for allowing more BBQ's because of environmental reasons

2
