Found cockroaches in her garage and said that the County Environmental <br />Department agrees that garbage left overnight every weekend in the park <br />was a contributing factor in cockroach migration to the neighborhood. <br />4. Wants garbage pick-up on Saturday and Sunday evenings so this isn't left <br />overnight <br />5. Found that the neighboring cities of San Carlos, Menlo Park, San Mateo <br />and Palo Alto have stricter rules than Redwood City including: non- <br />residents pay twice as much; or no non-residents allowed at all; no extra <br />chairs, BBQ's, tents or jumpers are allowed, etc. <br />6. Large groups of people should be at Red Morton Park or any of the larger <br />parks (more than 5 acres) in Redwood City or should be directed to <br />County parks, not to Stafford. <br />Mrs. Travers also showed the Commission (via tape on the floor where the <br />meeting was held) the actual size of a 15 foot structure. <br /> <br />Chairperson Slusser thanks Mrs. Travers for her research and concise <br />comments. <br /> <br />Resident, Mr. Cipriani (Valota Road) commented about his concern with the <br />noise from music at Red Morton Park. Chairperson Slusser asked Mr. Cipriani if <br />this was an issue of amplified sound or sound from instruments. Mr. Cipriani <br />clarified that it was more of an issue with sound projecting fromnon amplified <br />musical instruments. He said that there are sometimes 5 piece bands that come <br />into the park by the picnic tables. Mr. Cipriani also asked if there is anything we <br />could do about the ice cream truck noise. <br /> <br />Chairperson Slusser said that the Parks and Recreation Commission could not <br />do anything about the ice cream truck music, but thanked Mr. Cipriani for coming <br />to the meeting and voicing his concern. <br /> <br />Resident, Lindley Garner (Roosevelt Ave.) described his concerns regarding <br />noise at Red Morton Park and from the Community Activities Building and that he <br />has called the Police Department before and has received no response. <br />Specifically on the noise issue from the Community Activities Building, Mr. <br />Garner said that there was a lot of noise two years ago on hot August day which <br />was very disruptive to him and his neighbors. <br /> <br />Chairperson Slusser thanks Mr. Garner for his comments and then opened up <br />the meeting for Commission input. <br /> <br />Commissioner Joseph, who chaired the original park rules sub-committee, <br />expressed concern that what she has in front of her did not look the same as <br />what the sub-committee submitted to the Commission. Chairperson Slusser <br />directed staff to provide the Commission with a listing of the changes from the <br /> <br />3 <br />
