The provisions of the foregoing sections of , this ordinance to the contrary notwithstanding, if a position allocated to a given class in the competitive service is reallocated to a different class in order to correct an error or to provide for a change in duties or responsibilities of such position, and there is no change in the incumbent of the position so reallocated, and the maximum salary provided for the position as reallocated is less than the salary received by the incumbent prior to reallocation, then said incumbent shall continue to be compensated at the rate paid said incumbent prior to such allocation. SECTION 24. Ordinance No. 1483, adopted February 22, 1971, entitled "An ordinance Establishing Salaries for Employees of the city of Redwood city; and, Repealing Ordinance No. 1445," is hereby repealed, effective January 1, 1972. SECTION 25. This ordinance shall be effective 30 days after its adoption; provided, however, the provisions hereof shall be operative retroactively to and including January 1, 1972. * * * - 9 - r'
