'. , -. <br />.. . . . <br /> <br />November 20, 2006 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Budget Amendment - 200612007 Roadway Management System <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />By resolution, amend the Fiscal Year 2006-2007 Transportation {Measure "A"} Funds <br />for the Roadway Management System to include an additional $567,713, which the City <br />rccah.-ed through Prop'.:;sition No. 42 from the State Controller's OffICe. <br /> <br />Background <br />There are specific uses or requirements tied to Proposition No. 42 funds. Proposition <br />No. 42 funds must be used only for street and highway pavement maintenance, <br />rehabilitation, reconstruction and storm damage repair. For Proposition No. 42 <br />purposes, maintenance means patching, overlay, and sealing. Reconstruction includes <br />overtay, sealing, or w.deniilg of the roadway to br'tng the roadway width to the desirable <br />minimum pavement width consistent with accepted design standards for local streets <br />and roads. <br /> <br />The Proposition No. 42 grant funds were not programmed into the budget when it was <br />prepared, due to uncertainty concerning the fund amount and date that the City wilt <br />receive it By adopting the Resolution. this fund will be added to the budget, and will be <br />utilized by the current 200012007 Street Overlay Project (Whipple Avenue-Industrial <br />Way-Alameda de las Pulgas), which is a qualified project for Proposition No. 42 funds. <br /> <br />Alternatives <br />Do not approve the Budget Amendment and forego the State grant. <br /> <br />/ #/~~~EX-'~'"- <br />M.
