<br />PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 25,2006 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Vice Chairperson White, Commissioners <br />Joseph, Sargent, Swope, Truscelli, Wright <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Chairperson Slusser <br /> <br />GUESTS: Senior Affairs Commission Vice Chairperson Jodi Paley and <br />Elizabeth Travers <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno; Superintendent Gary Hover; <br />Community Services Manager, Linda Griffith <br /> <br />Vice -Chairperson Shawn White called the regular meeting of the Park and <br />Recreation Commission to order at 7:32 pm in Room 1 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Ave., Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />Director Centeno asked the Commission to consider moving the approval of <br />minutes to after Item 1 the Senior Center Accreditation Process at the request of <br />Elizabeth Travers. There being no objection from the commission the item was <br />moved. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - NATIONAL COUNCIL ON AGING SENIOR CENTER <br />ACCREDITATION PRESENTATION <br /> <br />Community Services Manager Griffith introduced Senior Affairs Commission Vice <br />Chairperson Jody Paley distributed copies of her Power Point presentation to the <br />Commissioners. Ms. Paley spoke to the purpose duties and responsibilities of <br />the Senior Affairs Commission and reviewed their draft work plan for 2007-08. <br />The work plan was based on and intended to meld with the Department's <br />strategic plan; with accreditation being their organizational goal and major <br />renovations or a new senior center building as their facilities priority.
