assessment process developed by the National Council on Aging, the benefits of
both the self assessment and accreditation and why it is important to support
Senior Center Programs. She noted that the Center expects to have a site visit
in January or February of 2007. Linda Griffith and Ms. Paley responded to
questions from Commissioners as to why there are so few centers in California
involved in the accreditation process and the expected implementation time
frame. Vice-Chairman White thanked the presenters for the information and
indicated the Commission would be willing to help as needed.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mrs. Travers commented that the Commission minutes were in error because a
letter (email) directed to the Director and Superintendent Hover from Stafford
Park neighbor AI Diaz providing comments about potential rule changes had not
been read into the record. She indicated that Mr. Diaz had given her his folder
containing the petition from residents regarding activities at Stafford Park
presented to City Council in April of 1998. She then stated that the fact that a
survey of 600 park reservations revealed that 20% of the reservations were from
groups who were not Redwood City residents should be included in the minutes.

Vice Chairperson White then asked the Commission if they had any changes or
additions to the minutes.

Commissioner Joseph asked that, Item 4 on Page 5 of the minutes be changed
to replace "designated areas" with "designated picnic areas"; that the section
dealing with the Solari Windmill on Page 6, be changed to reflect Superintendent
Hover was to inquire of Keith Bautista whether he would be interested in
providing architectural services.

Commissioner Wright asked that Page 4 be changed to note he asked for
clarification on current rules prohibiting bringing structures into the park and also
asked for consideration of limits on skate park hours for those 16 and under
rather than Commissioner White.

MIS TruscellilSwope to approve the minutes of the September meeting as
corrected.

ITEM 2 - REVIEW AND ACTION TO DIRECT CHANGES OR FORWARDING
TO CITY COUNCIL FOR THEIR CONSIDERATION OF PROPOSED
CHANGES TO PARK RULES AND REGULATIONS

Vice Chairperson White recognized Mrs. Travers who wished to speak on this
topic. Mrs. Travers began by reading a letter from Stafford Park neighbor AI
Diaz. She went on to strongly urge the Commission not to change the existing
rules for Stafford Park, to focus on developing a means of supervision in all parks

2

T
