<br />~ <br /> <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />LIBRARY BRANCH SUPERVISOR <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />To manage, supervise, coordinate and direct the operation, staff and acti- <br />vities of a branch library; to coordinate branch activities with other <br />division and departments; and to provide technical staff assistance. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />Receives direction from the Library Director or Assistant Library Director. <br /> <br />Exercises direct supervision over professional, technical and clerical library <br />staff. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br /> <br />Plan, develop, implement and evaluate library programs for adults and children <br />at a branch library; assess community needs and revise programs as nec~ssary. <br /> <br />Select, train, motivate and evaluate personnel; provide or coordinate staff <br />training; work with ernoloyees to correct deficiencies; i~lement discipline <br />and termination procedures. <br /> <br />Schedule staff; assign and monitor support tasks. <br /> <br />Participate in budget preparation and administration; prepare cost estil'l1ates <br />for budget recommendations. <br /> <br />Provide direct reference assistance to members of the public. <br /> <br />Provide reference assistance and reader's guidance for the public. <br /> <br />Provide the full range of library collect ions appropriate to the branch lib- <br />rary community; analyze and evaluate current collection, select appropriate <br />materia 1 s. <br /> <br />Respond to questions about City library and branch library services; respond <br />to citizen suggestions. <br /> <br />Provide for the physical arrangement of the collection, furniture and equip- <br />ment in the branch library for effective public use. <br /> <br />Monitor general physical condition of the branch library; schedule and coordi- <br />nate maintenance and repair. <br /> <br />Supervise and participate in the library publicity and publiC relations <br />activities. <br /> <br />Meet with individuals, community groups, and school officials to analyze <br />changing community needs for library services; develop services and activities <br />responsive to community needs. <br /> <br />27 <br />
