<br />SWC:djk 3/14/88 (#21) <br />ORIGI N/\L <br /> <br />MAR 2 1 1988 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />N o. 1 0 7 41 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CHIEF OF POLICE TO ISSUE PERMIT <br />TO PENINSULA CELEBRATION ASSOCIATION FOR INDEPENDENCE <br />DAY PARADE AND FESTIVAL <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Vehicle Code Sections 21100 and 21101, <br /> <br />respectively, local authorities, by resolution, may adopt rules <br /> <br />and regulations regulating processions or assemblages on streets <br /> <br />under their jurisdiction, and temporarily closing a portion of <br /> <br />any street for celebrations, parades, local special events and <br /> <br />other purposes when deemed necessary for the safety and <br /> <br />protection of persons who are to use that portion of the street <br /> <br />during the temporary closing; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Peninsula Celebration Association ("PCA") has <br /> <br />requested that this Council permit it to conduct the annual <br /> <br />Independence Day Parade and Festival in and along several <br /> <br />hereinafter named City streets and adjacent right-of-way on July <br /> <br />4, 1988, and it is the intent and desire of this Council to <br /> <br />permit the PCA to conduct said parade and festival, and to close <br /> <br />said streets and adjacent right-of-way, as hereinafter set forth; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. This Council does hereby grant to the PCA the right to <br /> <br />conduct the annual Independence Day Parade and Festival in the <br /> <br />City of Redwood City on July 4, 1988, and does hereby authorize <br /> <br />and direct the Chief of Police to issue a permit to the PCA for <br /> <br />said purpose. <br /> <br />10741 <br />
