<br />DE~:djk 7/27/87 (#20) <br /> <br />preparation <br /> <br />thereof <br /> <br />shall <br /> <br />comply <br /> <br />in <br /> <br />all <br /> <br />respects <br /> <br />with <br /> <br />requirements of law. <br />The returns of said election shall be made out and signed by <br />the election officers and as otherwise required by law and shall <br />be deposited with the City Clerk or other officer authorized to <br />receive said returns. The canvass of returns and declaration of <br />results of the election shall be conducted and made in accordance <br />wi th the requirements of law pertaining to consolidated <br />elections. <br />SECTION 3. The provisions which are proposed by petition to <br />be added to the Charter are indicated hereinafter by underlining. <br />If approved, the Charter provisions so added shall be enacted <br />without such underlining. <br />SECTION 4. The amendment proposed by the petition would add <br />Section 96 to the Charter of the City of Redwood City to read as <br />follows: <br /> <br />"Section 96. IMPARTIAL AND BINDING ARBITRATION FOR <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE DISPUTES. <br />"~ Declaration of Policy. It is hereby declared to be <br />the policy of the City of Redwood City that strikes by <br />firefighters are not in the public interest and should be <br />prohibited, and that a method should be adopted for <br />peacefully' and equitably resolving disputes that might <br />otherwise lead to such strikes. <br />"b.
