A portion of this street segment (24% by area) lies within the
County of San Mateo, outside of Redwood City limits. (The City/County limit line
bisects Bay Road along its center line, between Fifth Avenue and Florence Street.)
See Attachement "AI> - location map.

The estimated construction cost for the Bay Road portion of the City's overlay
project is approximately $800,000. Based on this estimate, the County's share
would be roughly 24% of the construction cost. An additional 10% of the cost is
estimated for preparation of plans, specifications, project administration,
construction management, and other incidental expenses incurred by the City.

This overlay project will be partially funded by a Federal Surface Transportation
Program grant. Bay Road (and Florence Avenue) are to receive $300,000 in grant
funding. A proportional amount of this grant will go towards the County's portion of
work. This will offset the cost, and bring the estimated County's cost share to
approximately $138,000 (after adding grant funding).
