Award of Contract - Redwood Shores Community Library Project

Senior Civil Engineer Lee explained the project.

Council Members thanked staff for their persistence and the outreach to the
community. The project is much more than a branch library, but a community
meeting place for the Redwood Shores neighborhood. The community supports
raising the additional funds for the opening day collection that is ongoing at this
time. Mario Rendon, President of the Library Foundation and Billy James, Library
Board President were thanked for their leadership and work. The collaboration
between the State, the City, and the GID funds was acknowledged. The
community survey as to needs in Redwood Shores and focus meetings with the
staff efforts were important to the success. This is an investment in the future in a
community need identified by the community.

Recommendation:
M/S Foust/Hartnett to:

JOINT CITY COUNCIL/REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
MEETING MINUTES

DECEMBER 11, 2006
PAGE 4
