<br />1. Express the Council's acceptance of the SBWMA's offer to manage the <br />competitive contractor selection process on behalf of the City by adopting the <br />attached resolution. Revision of proposed resolution language to include in <br />the fifth recital that if Redwood City is supportive of the SBWMA's plans as <br />presented at the December 11, 2006 City Council meeting a resolution to that <br />affect be adopted. <br /> <br />2. Affirm that the SBWMA's core package of services meet the City's needs by <br />delivering high-quality cost-effective programs and services that increase <br />customer convenience and increase diversion. <br /> <br />3. Review the SBWMA's optional programs that are intended to achieve higher <br />levels of diversion or customer convenience and identify those in which the <br />City has particular interest subject to receipt of the actual additional costs for <br />these services. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 14754 ACCEPTING SOUTH BAYSIDE WASTE MANAGEMENT <br />AUTHORITY (SBWMA) OFFER TO MANAGE CONTRACTOR SELECTION PROCESS <br /> <br />The motion passed by a unanimous roll call vote. <br /> <br />8. MA rrERS OF COUNCil INTEREST - <br /> <br />A. legislation (information only) - This sub-section involves possible discussion of <br />City Position on Proposed Legislation described in the League of California Cities <br />Priority Focus Bulletin No. 46-2006. Council may direct staff to act on positions <br />taken by Council. (Copies of League of California Cities Priority Focus available in <br />City Clerk's Department). <br /> <br />B. Council Member A~uirre - stated that the previous Saturday, December 2 she <br />had attended the 12 Annual NFL Alumni Northern California Chapter Jerry Rice <br />Foundation Toy Drive. She also attended Asian Pacific American Leadership <br />Institute at De Anza College, a civic leaders roundtable to empower students from <br />diverse communities. She also attended a Latino Officials Summit through the <br />League of California Cities Latino Caucus where 30 representatives from various <br />parts of the country discussed specific issues faced, particularly, since the recent <br />shift in Congress and representation. <br /> <br />C. Vice Mayor Foust - announced the Redwood Shores community fund raiser with <br />$25,000-$30,000 in matching funds available until December 31 to donate to the <br />opening day collection for the new library. Redwood Shores community members <br />can donate and the Redwood Shores Community Association will match the funds <br />from a $100.00 donation to $1,000.00 maximum. <br /> <br />D. Mayor Pierce - on November 16 she worked ceremoniously with Kaiser Hospital <br />to close the Butt Hut making Kaiser Hospital a smoke free area.
