Staff must still
arrange for construction of the required signs and markings. Installation of the "STOP"
legend and limit line pavement markings must occur simultaneously with the actual stop
signs to ensure public safety at a new stop-controlled location. Because the pavement
must be thoroughly dry to allow a durable installation of these markings, wet weather
can delay the work. Staff anticipates this stop sign installation may not be completed
until the end of February, but will work toward implementation as weather and workload
permit.

Alternative
Do not install the proposed stop signs. Place intersection warning signs with "cross
traffic does not stop" supplementary plates or other similar warning signs on all four of
the intersection approaches.

Fiscal Impact
The stop signs and related pavement markings can be installed for an estimated cost of
$2,000. Funds are available in the 2006-2007 Capital Improvement Program budget in
the Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program. Minor maintenance costs will be incurred
in future years.

/:l>>~<&2/j b~~
M. Saber Sarwary, P.
