<br />Exhibit "D" <br /> <br />CI" OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />ASSISTANT CITY ENGINEER <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />Under the direction of the City Engineer, to plan, direct, supervise and <br />review the activities of the City municipal engineering activities; and to <br />provide professional and technical staff assistance. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />General direction is provided by the City Engineer. <br /> <br />Responsibilities include direct and indirect supervision of professional and <br />technical positions. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the <br />fo 11 m.Ji n g : <br /> <br />Supervise, coordinate and 'review all municipal engineering activities <br />including engineering design, the captial improvement program, inspection and <br />survey, contract administration, plan review, and engineering records <br />management. <br /> <br />Resolve work problems and interpret administrative policies to subordinates, <br />other ,departments and the public. <br /> <br />Determine scope of engineering projects, review plans of private contractors, <br />make technical engineering decisions and establish technical criteria and <br />s tanda rds . <br /> <br />Review engineering drawings. <br /> <br />In the absence of the City Engineer, act in his/her behalf. <br /> <br />Respond to difficult citizen inquiries and complaints. <br /> <br />Assist in the selection, supervision, training, and evaluation of subordinate <br />s ta f f . <br /> <br />EXAMPLE OF DUTIES <br /> <br />Attend Plan Review Committee and Planning Commission meetings. <br /> <br />Perform related duties as assigned. <br /> <br />QUAL! FI CATIONS <br /> <br />Knowl edge of: <br /> <br />principles and practices of civil engineering and administration, plan <br />review, and other areas. <br /> <br />Applicable laws and regulatory codes related to development and <br />ronc:;trlJr.tion of ouhl ir. works. <br />
