<br />Cv~,'dinate and supervisl ,he inspection of residential, lmercial, and <br />industrial construction to secure the compliance of all pertinent building <br />and safety codes, ordinances, rules, and regulations. <br /> <br />Prepare and submit a variety of statistics, reports, memos, and <br />correspondence on code compliance and inspection related matters. <br /> <br />Perform related duties as assigned. <br /> <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Knowledge of: <br /> <br />Supervisory techniques; Federal, State, County, City and model codes and <br />ordinances; effective communication techniques; code changes, <br />development and adoption procedures; construction methods and materials; <br />engineering principles, building trades, contractors, and associations. <br /> <br />Ab il i ty to: <br /> <br />Organize, direct, and coordinate the activities of a division in a <br />manner conducive to full performance and high morale; analyze, interpret <br />and check complex plans, specifications, calculations, laws, and <br />regulations; establish and maintain cooperative relations with City <br />staff, and public and private organizations; supervise, train, and <br />evaluate subordinate professional, technical, and clerical personnel; <br />prepare clear and concise reports and to make effective presentations; <br />meet appropriate physical demands necessary for adequate job <br />performance. <br /> <br />Experience and Education <br /> <br />Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely <br />provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A <br />typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: <br /> <br />Experience: <br /> <br />Five years of increasingly responsible experience of a supervisory, <br />administrative, or professional nature in the design, construction, <br />and inspection of public, commercial, industrial, or residential <br />buildings. <br /> <br />Education: <br /> <br />Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or <br />university with major work in structural, mechanical, or civil <br />engineering, architecture, or a closely related field. <br /> <br />License or Certificate <br /> <br />Possession of a certificate of registration as an Architect or Engineer <br />in the State of California is desirable. <br /> <br />Possession of a valid California Driver's License. <br /> <br />PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS <br /> <br />Must be able to work in varying climatic conditions and be able to climb <br />ladders, crawl underneath buildings, handle construction noise and dust, and <br />be able to see well. <br />
