<br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />/ <br />/ <br />" <br /> <br />Exhibit "H" <br /> <br />FIRE MARSHAL <br /> <br />DEFIrlI TION <br /> <br />Under direction of the Deputy Fire Chief and/or Fire Chief the Fire Marshal is <br />responsible for the planning, development and implementation of effective fire <br />prevention, investigation and public education programs. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />General supervision is provided by the Deputy Fire Chief and/or Fire Chief. <br /> <br />Responsibilities inilude direct and indirect supervision of all fire prevention <br />personnel. <br /> <br />EXfJ.:PLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br /> <br />Represent the Fire Department before the City Council, City Commissions, Boards, <br />and Committees on fire prevention matters. <br /> <br />Coordinate with state and federal agencies to enforce code construction <br />requirements and to determine fire investigation responsibilities. <br /> <br />Provide public information and media releases as it pertains to fire prevention <br />and emergency information. <br /> <br />Evaluate the technical expertise and performance of all bureau members and fire <br />company members in the application of various codes, ordinances and state and <br />federal statutes. <br /> <br />Evaluate and research new products, processes, hazards and situations that could <br />present potential fire and/or life safety problems. <br /> <br />Develop and manage the fire prevention budget. <br /> <br />Analyze fire prevention, fire incidence and loss statistics. <br /> <br />Analyze programs and special projects and provide reports on such at the request <br />of the Fire Chief and Deputy Chief. <br /> <br />Review construction and system plans for conformance to fire safety standards. <br /> <br />Review codes, regulations and ordinances and recommend changes when necessary. <br /> <br />Develop operations forms. <br /> <br />Manage the fire inspection program. <br /> <br />Supervise fire prevention personnel. <br /> <br />Perform related duties as assigned. <br /> <br />QUAL I FI CATIONS <br /> <br />Knm.1l edge of: <br />Principles, methods and practices of modern fire loss management. <br />
