City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) of San Mateo County Re- <br />authorization of the Congestion Relief Program (supplemental information available <br />at the City Clerk's Office) <br /> <br />Council Member Howard explained the C/CAG role and the purpose of this topic <br />being presented. She stated that C/CAG administers funds with one of the <br />programs being the San Mateo County Congestion Relief Program. She further <br />stated that the hope is that there will be an increase in the fund to not only do <br />existing programs but expand and do more programs to relieve traffic congestion in <br />the community. <br /> <br />Rich Napier, C/CAG Executive Director, explained the program and provided a <br />summary handout. He further explained the main differences of the program <br />options. <br /> <br />Council Members asked questions such as the difference between the expanded <br />metering and the basic metering. Comments included thanking Mr. Napier and <br />Council Member Howard for all the work on congestion relief for the County that is <br />an excellent example of regional thinking combined with regional planning. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />M/S Foust/Bain to direct C/CAG Member/Council Member Howard to vote at the <br />February C/CAG Board meeting for the reauthorization of the Congestion Relief <br />Program, Option 1 ($1,850,000.), for a term of four years. The motion passed by <br />a unanimous voice vote. MINUTE ORDER 07-012 <br /> <br />C. Initiate the Community Shuttle Service Pilot Program <br /> <br />Council Member Howard, Chair for Traffic Congestion Relief Alliance, acknowledged <br />representatives present at the meeting and all task force members. Based on <br />feedback from the task force it was determined that a transportation survey was <br />necessary. The results showed strong interest from both community members and <br />employers in a shuttle. The Alliance received approval to plan and apply for grant <br />funds which has resulted in several grant awards.
