<br /><"i.' <br /> <br />6.2A <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the Human Resources Director <br /> <br />January 22,20017 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Resolution amending the City of Redwood City's classification plan and Fiscal year 06/07 <br />budget. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />It is recommended that City Council approve a resolution to: <br /> <br />A) Amend the following job descriptions to include the new State certification requirements: <br /> <br />Classification Department <br />1. Public Workers Maintenance Worker III Public Works Services <br />2. Public Workers Maintenance Worker I-II Public Works Services <br />3. Lead Public Works Maintenance Worker Public Works Services <br />4. Consumer Service Technician Public Works Services <br />5. Customer Support Services Specialist Public Works Services <br />6. Utilities Locator Public Works Services <br />7. Utilities Specialist Rublic Works Services <br /> <br />B) Amend the City's classification plan to add the following positions: <br /> <br />New Classification <br />1. Fleet Manager <br />2. Fleet Supervisor <br />3. Custodial Services Supervisor <br /> <br />Previous Classification <br />PW Superintendent <br />PW Operations Leader <br />PRCS Manager <br /> <br />Department <br />Public Works Services <br />Public Works Services <br />PRCS <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />Department positions are approved in the budget process every two years. During the budget <br />cycle, departments may request new positions, changes to current classifications or new <br />classifications depending on the changing needs of their departments. The Human Resources <br />department is responsible for evaluating these requests and conducting compensation and <br />classification comparisons and analyses. Outlined below are the combined departmental staff <br />requests requiring City Council review and approval at the mid-budget cycle period. <br /> <br />A. Amended Job Descriptions in the Public Works Services Department <br />1. Public Workers Maintenance Worker III <br />2. Public Workers Maintenance Worker I-II <br />3. Lead Public Works Maintenance Worker <br />
