<br />CITY OF ~EDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />TRAFFIC OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />EXHIBIT "B" <br /> <br />To plan, organize, direct, and review the activities of an assigned section in <br />the General Services Department: to supervise assigned crews; and to perform <br />technically complex duties in the areas of electrical maintenance, signing, and <br />stripping. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />General direction is provided by the Director of General Services. <br /> <br />Responsibilities include direct and indirect supervision over personnel in an <br />assigned section. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br /> <br />Assist in development and the implementation of goals, objectives, policies and <br />priorities for the assigned section. <br /> <br />Plan, direct, coordinate and review the wo~k of assigned employees in traffic <br />signal, street lighting, electrical facilities, and traffic painting/signing <br />repair and installation. <br /> <br />Requisition necessary equipment and materials. <br /> <br />Maintain time and materials records; prepare work reports and cost records. <br /> <br />Train and instruct subordinates. <br /> <br />Recommend and enforce safety requirements. <br /> <br />Investigate complaints and suggest corrective actions; study maintenance <br />functions and recommend improvements. <br /> <br />Interview subordinates at various phases of the work and give them specific <br />orders, discuss work progress and ascertain the amount of materials and <br />supplies needed. <br /> <br />Prepare budget estimates and other requested reports. <br /> <br />Evaluate subordinates' performance and prepare required reports. <br /> <br />Perform, supervise, and diagnose skilled electric/electronic maintenance repair <br />on traffic signal systems. <br /> <br />Supervise installation and or replacement of traffic signs, pavement markings, <br />stripes, and raised markers. <br /> <br />Perform relatee duties as assigned. <br /> <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Knowledge of: <br /> <br />Materials, methods, practices and equipment used in traffic signal, street <br />lighting, electrical facilities, traffic painting/signing, and maintenance <br />and repair activities. <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
