<br />/ <br />/ <br /> <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />FIRE PREVENTION AIDE <br /> <br />EXHIBIT "B" <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />Under direction of Fire Marshal assist in the administration of the City's <br />fire prevention program, and perform weed abatement inspection. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />Receives immediate supervision from the Fire Marshal. Functional or technical <br />supervision may also be received from department staff. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the <br />following: <br /> <br />Perform inspections of routine non-technical work to enforce compliance with <br />laws, ordinances, and regulations pertaining to the prevention of fires. <br /> <br />Inspect routine work related to the weed abatement program. <br /> <br />Conduct or assist others in conducting public education programs. <br /> <br />Respond to public inquiries and complaints. <br /> <br />Prepare reports, forms, records, and required correspondence. <br /> <br />Perform reinspections to follow up on correction notices and letters <br />pertaining to initial inspections conducted by fire prevention or suppression <br />inspectors. <br /> <br />May inspect occupancies for fire hazards. <br /> <br />Issue correction orders when unsafe conditions or practices are discovered, <br />and reinspect to insure compliance. Issue Second Correction Orders when <br />necessary. <br /> <br />Explain exit drills and smoke detector needs to citizens. <br /> <br />Perform related work as required. <br /> <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Knowl edge of: <br />Effective communication skills. <br /> <br />Principles and techniques of building inspection work. <br /> <br />Research techniques. <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
