OF NOTICES MAILED: 50 <br /> <br />APPLICATION REQUEST: Application to designate the subject eight properties as the <br />"Main Street Historic District", per Chapter 40 of the Redwood City Code (the Historic <br />Preservation Ordinance). <br /> <br />GENERAL PLAN DESIGNATION AND CONFORMANCE: The General Plan <br />designation of this site is "Mixed Use". The subject properties conform to that <br />designation. <br /> <br />The adoption of the proposed historic district is listed under "Goals and Principles" as <br />described in Appendices B, C and D of the Historic Landmarks Element and Policy C-8 <br />of the Conservation Element of the Redwood City General Plan. In addition, the draft <br />Downtown Plan states that it is important to respect the historic character and <br />architecture of the Downtown (Goal B). In fact, the plan specifically states that the City <br />"...should explore the possibility of qualifying for the "Main Street" program of the <br />National Trust for Historic Preservation and study the feasibility of obtaining such <br />finding.." (Chapter 5 - Implementation Strategies). <br /> <br /> <br />
