CITY OF REDWOOD CITY MANAGEMENT ANALYST 1/11 DEFINITION To provide responsible professional, administrative and technical assistance in the development, administration and implementation of City programs; to provide highly responsible analytical staff assistance including to conduct specific and comprehensive analyses of a wide range of municipal policies involving organization, procedures, finance, and services; to manage various projects; and to assist in office management functions. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Manaqement Analyst I - This is the entry level class in the professional Management Analyst series. This class is distinguished from the journey by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties as assigned to positions within this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters allocated to the journey level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or not directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks. Manaqement Analyst II - This is the journey level class within the professional Management Analyst series. This class is distinguished from the entry level by the assignment of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the entry. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Manaqement Analyst I Receives general supervision from an assigned supervisor. Exercises technical and functional supervision over technical and administrative support personnel. Manaaement Analyst II Receives general supervision from an assigned supervisor. Exercises direct supervision over technical and administrative support personnel.
