CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> MANAGEMENT ANALYST 1/11 <br /> <br /> DEFINITION <br /> <br /> To provide responsible professional, administrative and technical assistance in <br /> the development, administration and implementation of City programs; to provide <br /> highly responsible analytical staff assistance including to conduct specific and <br /> comprehensive analyses of a wide range of municipal policies involving <br /> organization, procedures, finance, and services; to manage various projects; and <br /> to assist in office management functions. <br /> <br /> DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br /> <br />Manaqement Analyst I - This is the entry level class in the professional <br />Management Analyst series. This class is distinguished from the journey by the <br />performance of the more routine tasks and duties as assigned to positions within <br />this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same <br />independence of direction and judgment on matters allocated to the journey <br />level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have <br />only limited or not directly related work experience. Employees work under <br />immediate supervision while learning job tasks. <br /> <br />Manaqement Analyst II - This is the journey level class within the professional <br />Management Analyst series. This class is distinguished from the entry level by <br />the assignment of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive only <br />occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are <br />fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Positions in <br />this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the <br />entry. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br /> Manaqement Analyst I <br /> <br />Receives general supervision from an assigned supervisor. <br /> <br />Exercises technical and functional supervision over technical and administrative <br />support personnel. <br /> <br /> Manaaement Analyst II <br /> <br />Receives general supervision from an assigned supervisor. <br /> <br />Exercises direct supervision over technical and administrative support personnel. <br /> <br /> <br />
