<br />SWC: sh <br />SWC:sh <br />SWC:sh <br />SWC: sh <br /> <br />4/4/86 <br />4/7/86R <br />4/7/86RR <br />4/7/86RRR <br /> <br />acceptable by reason of the overriding considerations <br /> <br />hereinafter described. <br /> <br />This Council has balanced the <br /> <br />benefits <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />Project <br /> <br />against <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />unavoidable <br /> <br />environmental risks in determining whether to approve the <br /> <br />Project. <br /> <br />This Council hereby finds that the following <br /> <br />overriding considerations require approval of the Project <br /> <br />notwithstanding the occurrence of any of the aforesaid <br /> <br />significant effects which cannot be mitigated to acceptable <br /> <br />levels: <br /> <br />(i) <br /> <br />The <br /> <br />City <br /> <br />absolutely <br /> <br />requires <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />construction of a new Fire Station No.1, because the <br /> <br />old station is unsafe and unfit for human habitation, <br /> <br />and because the present temporary mobile trailer is <br /> <br />unacceptable for long term use. <br /> <br />(ii) The Fire Station Site Selection Study <br /> <br />prepared for this Council by Design and Engineering <br /> <br />Systems Inc. found that the proposed site is the most <br /> <br />suitable location for the Project. <br /> <br />(iii) <br /> <br />The Project will serve to enhance the <br /> <br />City's fire suppression capabilities and is essential <br /> <br />for the health and safety of the people of Redwood <br />City. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />4 <br />
