IREPORT To the Honorable Mayor and City Council

From the City Manager

November 4, 2002

Subject
Amendment No. 1 Agreement for Professional Services (the "Agreement") with Anderson
Brule' Architects, Inc. (ABA) for amending the Agreement to delete requirement for
meeting performance standards for "geological services" for the possible Redwood City
Branch Library in Redwood Shores.

Recommendation
Approve and authorize execution of a Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement to delete
reference to the performance of "geological services".

Background
On In September 23, 2002, the City contracted with Anderson Brule' Architects to provide
Professional Services for developing a Needs Assessment, preparing conceptual plans,,
completing the State Grant application for Libraries, and other professional architectural
and engineering services, as required for the proposed Redwood City Branch Library in
Redwood Shores. The "Standard Agreement" inadvertently contained wording under
Paragraph 6. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS for providing performance of expert
"Geological services" which the consultant does not possess. This Amendment will
delete that provision.

Alternative
Council can elect to not approve Amendment No. 1 that would be inconsistent with the
Scope of Work since the consultant is not able to provide expert "geological services".

Fiscal Impacts
This is a no cost Amendment to delete the requirement of meeting performance
standards for "Geological services". Such services were never in their original proposal.

Brian Lee Dv Brae Lie~trand 'E~ Everett"
Senior Civil Engineer Community Development Services Director City Manager

BL:ss
S/hbrary/reports/bnan/consultand_ander$on brule'_library project TaskOrderNo. 1
