<br />EXHIBIT "B" <br /> <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />PUBLIC WORKS SERVICE TECHNICIAN <br />-Permanent Modified Work- <br /> <br />DEFIN ITION <br /> <br />To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the <br />construction, maintenance, and repair of streets and sidewalks, . <br />and/or to work on a traffic sign and paint crew in a limited <br />capacity. To develop and maintain records documenting the <br />system of pipes and valves, updating descriptions of location. <br /> <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br /> <br />As per the City of Redwood City's permanent modified work policy, <br />this is a special class in the Public Works Department established <br />for an occupationally injured worker in accordance with the <br />worker's medically established work preclusions which include: <br />no excessive pressure on right knee; no standing in awkward <br />positions; and no placement of undue stress of right knee. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />Receives general supervision from higher level maintenance personnel. <br />Technical or functional supervision may also be provided by higher <br />level maintenance personnel. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES <br /> <br />Street & Sewer <br /> <br />Performs street maintenance duties; operates construction and <br />maintenance equipment such as trucks, for a variety of construc- <br />tion and maintenance operations involving streets, sidewalks and <br />drainage channels. <br /> <br />Performs light carpentry work. <br /> <br />Inspects ditches, drainage areas and roadside shoulders for noxious <br />weeds; identifies weeds and applies appropriate herbicides, visual <br />inspections/walking along side of road. <br /> <br />Sets up traffic safety devices and barricades as necessary. <br /> <br />Performs routine preventive maintenance on equipment as assigned. <br /> <br />-1- <br />
