Upon request of the grievant, the grievant may be <br /> represented at any stage of the grievance procedure by a <br /> representative of fihe Association. <br /> 17.2.7 Th;s grievarc� �,��c��urE shatl bc the suie a��c� exdusive �r�ee�iure for <br /> pracessing objections or challenges to punitive disciplinary actions and <br /> shatl satisfy al! administrative appeal rights and pratections afforded <br /> oy tne Nuniic 5arety �fficers Procedural Bill of Rights Act, <br /> Government Code Sections 330Q, efi seq. <br /> 17.3 Procedure <br /> Grievances will be processed in accardance with the following procedures: <br /> 17.3.1 Level I - I�format ResoEution <br /> 17.3.1.1 Any unit member who believes he/she has a �rievance <br /> which is an alleged viotation of the specific provisions of <br /> this MOU shall present the grievance orally to the <br /> immediate supervisQC within ten (10) days after the <br /> grievant knew, or reasonably should have known, of the <br /> circu�rsta��ces which fu�-m tt�� basis fc�r the grievance. <br /> Failure to do so will render the grievance null and void. <br /> The immediate supervisor shall hold discussions and <br /> attempt to resolve the matter within ten {10) days after <br /> the presentation of the grievance. It is the intent of this <br /> informa€ meeting that at least one personat conference be <br /> hetd between the aggrieved emptoyee and the immediate <br /> supervisor. <br /> 17.3.1.2 Any unit member who betieves he/she has a grievance <br /> which is an objection or challenge to any punitive <br /> disciplinary action shall present the �rievance orally to the <br /> Captain within ten (10) days after the grievant knew, or <br /> reasonably shoutd have known, of the circumstances which <br /> form the basis for ti�e �rievance. F'ailure to do so will <br /> render the grievance null and void.
