The Rte Rghter may elect to continue <br /> medical and dental insurance coverage for up to one (1) year <br /> during this leave at her own expense..- <br /> <br /> 18.8.5 The foregoing Hatemlty Leave provision shall be subject to <br /> applicable federal and state law. <br /> <br />18.9 Leave-for-Pregnancy-Disability <br /> <br /> 18.9.1 Rre Rghters who are working are entitled to use personal illne~__~ <br /> and injury leave for disabilities caused or contributed to by <br /> pregnancy, miscarriage, childbirth, and recovery therefrom on the <br /> same terms and conditions goveming leaves of absence for other <br /> Illness or medical disability. Such leave shall not be used for child <br /> care, child readng, or preparation for childbearing, but shall be <br /> limited to those disabilities as set forth above. The lenc~h of such <br /> disability leave, including the date on which the leave shall <br /> commence and the date on which the duties are to be resumed, <br /> shall be determined by the Rre Rghter and the Rre Fighter's <br /> physidan; however, the Human Resources Director may require a <br /> verification of the extent of disability through a physical <br /> examination of the Rre Rghter by a physiden appointed by the City <br /> at the City's expense. <br /> <br /> 18.9.2 Rre Rghters are entitled to leave without pay or other benefits for <br /> disabilities because of pmcjnancy, miscarriage, childbirth, or <br /> recovery therefrom when sick leave has been exhausted. The date <br /> on which the Rre Rghter shall resume duties shall be determined <br /> by the Rre Rghter on leave and the Rre Rghter's physician; <br /> however, the Human Resources Director may require a verification <br /> of the extent of disability through a physical examination of the Rre <br /> Fighter by a physidan appointed by the City. <br /> <br /> 18.9.3 The Rre Rghter on leave shall be returned to her odginal position, <br /> or if that position is not in existence, to an equivalent position <br /> within her classification. <br /> <br />18.10 Funeral Leave ' <br /> <br /> In the event of a death in the immediate family of an employee who has one <br /> (1) or more years of seniority with the City, the employee shall, upon request, <br /> be granted such time off with pay as is necessary to make arrangements for <br /> the funeral and attend same, not to exceed two (2) scheduled duty shifts <br /> dudng the three (3) consecutive calendar days commencing with the <br /> notification of the death of the employee. This provision does not apply if the <br /> death occurs during the employee's paid vacation, or while the employee is on <br /> leave of absence, layoff, or sick leave. <br /> <br /> 3? <br /> <br /> <br />
