The following cities and districts are to be surveyed: Alameda, Berkeley, Daly <br />City, Menlo Park Fire Protection District, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Richmond, <br />San Leandro, San Mateo, San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District, Santa <br />Clara, South County Fire Protection Authority, and South San Francisco. These <br />agencies shall not be changed except by mutual consent of the parties. <br /> <br />The survey conducted by a mutually agreed upon consultant, shall be updated <br />and completed by October 1, 2005. The cost of this report to be shared <br />equally by the City and Local 2a~)0. <br /> <br /> Effective the first of the pay pedod closest to .lanuary 1, 2001, salaries shall be <br /> increased six percent (6%). <br /> <br />Effective the first of the pay pedod closest to January 1, 2002, salaries shall be <br />increased six percent (6%). <br /> <br />Effective the first of the pay period closest to .lanuary 1, 2003, salaries shall be <br />increased five percent (5%). <br /> <br />Effective the first of the pay period closest to January 1, 2004 salades shall be <br />increased five percent (5%). <br /> <br />Effective the first of the pay pedod closest to January 1, 2005, salaries shall be <br />increased five percent (5%). <br /> <br /> 7.2.1 Initial Appointments <br /> <br /> Initial appointments to Fire Fighter or Captain classifications shall <br /> normally be made at the lowest step or rate of pay. Upon approval <br /> of the Fire Chief and City Manager, such appointments may be <br /> made at any other step when Justification upon consideration of the <br /> difficulty locating qualified personnel, education, experience, <br /> certifications, personal fitness and other criteria as may be <br /> reasonably related to the position. <br /> <br />7.2.2 Salary Increase on Promotion to Captain <br /> <br /> A Fire Fighter or Rre Fighter/Paramedic is eligible for a promotional <br /> adjustment that ensures at least a 5% increase above the highest <br /> classification they are to Supervise, even if that places him/her <br /> between salary steps. <br /> <br />7.2.3 Merit Increases <br /> <br /> A probationary Firefighter or Captain may be eligible for a salary <br /> increase to the next higher step above the initial step or rate to <br /> which appointment was made a~cer a six (6) month period.
