classification of Firefighter or Captain may be eligible for a salary increase at twelve-month intervals between steps to the maximum top step upon consideration of such employee's performance of duties, experience, education, personal fitness for the position, and other criteria reasonably related to awarding increased compensation on the basis of merit. Adjustments shall be made at the recommendation of the Fire Chief and approved by the City Manager. The status quo shall be maintained regarding the payment of FLSA overtime. The City shall also maintain the status quo on the payment of regular overtime as prescribed in Section 7.6 of the current MOU. 7.3 Captain Compaction Adjustment Effective the first of the pay period closest to .lanuary 1, 1998, Captain's salaries shall be increased by 5%. 7.4 Work ~chedule The regular workweek for employees in the classification of Fire Fighter and Captain shall be fifty-six (56) hours on existing work schedules. The work schedule shall consist of eight (8) twenty-four (24) hour on-duty periods within a twenty-four (24) day cycle to be worked in accordance with the following chart: X = 24 hour on-duty period 0 = 24 hour off-duty period XOXOXOXOOOOXOXOXOXOOOOOO 7.5 Starting Time The regular starting time for Fire Fighters and Captains scheduled for a fifty-six (56) hour workweek shall be 8:00 A.M. 7,6 Overtime 7.6.1 Fifty-six (56) Hour Workweek Employees Overtime for employees in the classifications of Fire Fighter and Fire Captain is authorized time worked beyond the regular scheduled workweek in Section 7.4. Overtime shall be compensated at one and one-half (1-1/2) times the employee's regular rate of pay for any time worked beyond a Rre Rghter or Rre Captains regular twenty-four (24) hour work shift. Payment for overtime shall not be made unless such overtime has been authorized by the Fire Chief, or designated representative, prior to such overtime being worked. 11
