forwarded to the Human Resources Department with a statement by the Rre <br /> Chief as to the resigned employee's service performance and other pertinent <br /> information concerning the cause of resignation. <br /> <br />15.2 Reinstatement <br /> <br /> A regular employee who has resigned in good standing may be reinstated to a <br /> vacant position of the same class at his/her previous position within a period of <br /> one (:1) year from the effective date of his/her resignation. Reinstatement shall <br /> be made at the salary step recommended by the Fire Chief and approved by <br /> the Human Resources Director, no lower than the salary step held at the time <br /> the employee le~c City employment. <br /> <br /> The reinstated employee will serve the designated probationary pedod for that <br /> classification prior to becoming a regular employee, regardless of the salary <br /> step at which the employee was reinstated. <br /> <br /> SECI~ON 16 - LAYOFF <br /> <br />16.1 Order of Layoff <br /> <br /> [n the event of a reduction of force, the employee with the least service in the <br /> classification affected shall be laid off first; provided, however, that any such <br /> employee so laid off shall be reassigned to a related classification (as set forth <br /> in Appendix A of the MOU) held by an employee having less service with the <br /> City; provided, further, that in order to displace the employee with less service <br /> in the other classification, the employee to be laid off shall be deemed capable, <br /> in the opinion of the City, by virtue of prior training and experience with the <br /> City of Redwood City, to perform the work required in that related <br /> classification. <br /> <br />16.2 Order of Rehire <br /> <br /> An employee who is laid off shall be placed, for a period of one (1) year from <br /> the date of the employee's most recent layoff, on a rehire list (for the <br /> employee's classification). In hiring for a vacant position in a classification (as <br /> set forth in Appendix A of the MOU), such rehire list shall take precedence over <br /> all other employment lists and the last employee laid off shall be the first <br /> employee rehired until the rehire list of employees is exhausted; provided, <br /> however, that the employee hired from the rehire list is capable, in the opinion <br /> of the City, by virtue of prior training and experience with the City, to perform <br /> the work required in the classification in which the opening exists. <br /> <br />16.3 Break in Service <br /> <br /> Service with the City shall be terminated by discharge, resignation, refusal by <br /> an employee to accept a reassignment to a related classification, twelve (12) <br /> <br /> 26 <br /> <br /> <br />
