The project was completed on October 11, 2002, and all the street lights are functioning
properly. This circuit was the next to the last 5kV circuit of the planned CIP conversion
projects. One more 5kV circuit is planned for replacement later this fiscal year.

Staff debriefed following this project and determined a new procedure for the final circuit
conversion. Previous checks for conduit continuity will be performed. The new wire will
then be pulled through the conduit prior to disconnecting the old wire. Each run will be
confirmed and the sections that will not accommodate both wires will be known prior to the
need to excavate and repair old conduit. These sections can be more accurately
estimated for cost prior to executing the work. The existing lights can remain functional
during this new procedure.

Alternatives
There are no viable alternatives to the authorization of this change order.

Fiscal Impact
Funds were budgeted and approved in :~e FY 02/03 CIP budget for the conversion of both
remaining 5kV circuits. There is $4~ g~3 remaining in the CIP budget to complete the final
circuit after payment of this change oraer.

Public Works Superintendent City Manager

Attachments
Change Order No. 1
