November 18, 2002 <br /> <br /> Subject <br /> Agreement with the Governor's Office on Service and Volunteerism <br /> <br /> Recommendation <br /> Approve and Authorize the City Manager to Execute the Agreement between the City of <br /> Redwood City/Redwood City 2020, and the Governor's Office on Service and <br /> Volunteerism. <br /> <br /> Background <br /> The City of Redwood City in partnership with the Redwood City School District, the <br /> Sequoia Union High School District and the County of San Mateo formed Redwood City <br /> 2020 (RC 2020) in 1995. The partners have been jointly funding RC 2020 since 1995 <br /> and the City of Redwood City acts as the fiscal agent for the collaborative. <br /> <br /> in the spring of 2002, RC 2020 successfully applied for AmeriCorps planning funds from <br /> the Governor's Office on Service and Volunteerism (GOSERV). The purpose of these <br /> funds is to develop a plan to create a school based AmeriCorps program, with a focus <br /> on developing youth leadership and service opportunities. Redwood City is the fiscal <br /> agent and this agreement will not impact City funding or services. <br /> <br /> Alternative <br /> Council may choose not to enter into this agreement. <br /> <br /> Fiscal Impact <br /> Funding for the program has been granted by GOSERV. No City funds will be used for <br /> this effort. The City is serving as fiscal agent for RC 2020 for funds awarded. <br /> <br />'-~9~anna V.
