Captains with current Paramedic certification In San Mateo County <br /> will be the first captains eligible to receive paramedic cer'dfication pay. <br /> <br /> The Fire Chief shall have final authority on the number of fire Captains <br /> authorized to receive paramedic certification pay. <br /> <br /> As medics are promoted to the dassification of Captain, the Rre Chief will <br /> determine the business need for addit~nal Captain/Paramedics. If the <br /> business need is fulfilled no others will be added to the system unless a <br /> vacancy occurs or the business need increases, as determined by the Rre <br /> Chief. If more than one Captain is promoted at the same time, available <br /> slots will be filled according to their ranking on ~ Captain's promotional <br /> list. If the business need has already been met and a vacancy occurs, the <br /> vacancy will be filled from a list of qualified Captains by seniority as <br /> Captains. <br /> <br />7.8 Court Pay <br /> <br /> An off-duty employee who is subpoenaed to appear in court or at a coroner's <br /> 'inquest in cases in which the Oty is a party shall be compensated at one and <br /> one-half (1-1/2) times his/her regular ~baight-time rate for all hours the <br /> employee is se ordered to appear with a minimum of three (3) hours. Any <br /> fees received by the employee for their testimony will be tumed into the City <br /> for deposit into the general fund. <br /> <br />7.9 Call-back Pay <br /> <br /> If a regular classified employee of the Rre Department, who has completed <br /> the normal shift or tour of duty, is called back to work, that employee shall, <br /> upon reporting for duty, receive a minimum of three (3) hours' work at the <br /> overtime rate. Tf three (3) hours' work is not required, the employee shall <br /> receive a minimum of three (3) hours' pay at the overtime rate. This <br /> provision does not apply to instances in which the employee is required to <br /> continue to remain on duty after completion of a normal shift or tour of duty. <br /> <br /> 13 <br /> <br /> <br />
