9A
Page 8

ATTACHMENT 5

Establish a List of "Work Verified" Tree Companies

A list of "Work-verified" Tree Companies will be developed to verify companies meet
the practices considered essential to perform professional tree work in Redwood City.
The list will be available to the public as a resource to select a tree company to
perform work on publicly-owned or privately-owned trees. It will be available for
reference, as a hand-out, and posted on the Public Works Services website, updated
bi-monthly.

The tree companies will voluntarily provide evidence of their qualifications in order to
be placed on the list. Additionally, the tree companies will sign an agreement to follow
to the permit process and pruning standards the City has established. If a company
fails to meet the criteria or violates the conditions of the agreement more than once
(one written warning will be issued), they would be removed from the list or placed on
a "Removed from the List" list.

The following criteria will need to be verified to be placed on the list:
i. Current full-time Certified Arborist or Board Certified Master Arborist on
staff, (Certified Tree workers will be noted as a bonus listing)
ii. Current Redwood City Business License
iii. Current State Contractors License (required for any job greater than
$500)
iv. Evidence of liability and workers compensation insurance. Certificates of
insurance naming the City as additional insured will be needed to
perform permitted work on City-owned trees.
v. Sign Agreement to educate their Redwood City customers about the
City's permit processes.
vi. Sign Agreement to follow Redwood City's codes for tree permit
processes and tree replacement.
vii. Sign Agreement to perform pruning work to ANSi A-300 Pruning
Standards
