<br />f1T'IC: rb 6/1/83 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N N O. <br /> <br />9362 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br />JUN 6 1983 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL <br />ASSISTANCE (JOBS PROGRAM--COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT <br />BLOCK GRANT) AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION AND FILING <br />OF ALL DOCUMENTS PERTAINING THERETO (FISCAL YEARS <br />1983-1984 AND 1984-85) <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Community Development Block Grant <br /> <br />Program authorized pursuant to Title I of the Housing <br /> <br />and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended by the <br /> <br />Congress of the United States (Public Law 93-383) provides <br /> <br />for the issuance of grants in order to attain the objective <br /> <br />of the development of viable urban communities, by providing <br /> <br />decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding <br /> <br />economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and <br /> <br />moderate income; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Jobs Program, as enacted by the Congress <br /> <br />of the United States (Public Law 98-8) provides for an <br /> <br />additional allocation of money to the Community Development <br /> <br />Block Grant Program to provide productive employment to <br /> <br />hasten and initiate federal projects and to provide humani- <br /> <br />tarian assistance to the indigent; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there has been presented to and reviewed <br /> <br />by this Council, an application to the United States Depart- <br /> <br />ment of Housing and Urban Development for an additional <br /> <br />appropriation to the Community Development Block Grant in <br /> <br />the amount of Two Hundred Seventeen Thousand and no/lOO <br /> <br />9 :362 <br />
