Park and Recreation Commission Page 2 Minutes of February 28, 2007 ITEM 2 -REVIEW OF DEPARTMENTAL CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM REQUESTS Superintendent Hover reviewed the Department's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) requests for Fiscal Year 2007-2008. ITEM 3 -REVIEW AND PRIORITIZE 2007 COMMISSION WORK PLAN The Commissioners discussed the ten (10) items on their 2007 Work Plan and came to consensus on how to prioritize the items. A list of the prioritized items along with completion dates will be given to the Commissioners at their March meeting. The items include: • Park Rules and Enforcement • Solari Windmill • Park Standard and Development Fee • Hoover Park Renovation • Veterans Memorial Building Scoping • Strategic Plan Update • Park and Recreation Element to General Plan • Partnership Recognition Activities • Cargill Land Question ITEM 4 -COMMISSION PARTICIPATION WITH A FLOAT IN THE 4T" OF JULY PARADE Commissioner Joseph-Hover stated she will not be available to participate in the building of the 4t" of July Float this year. The Commissioners decided to take a year off and resume their participation in the 2008 Parade. ITEM 5 -SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS -Park Needs Assessment This sub-committee will be meeting on March 1 to tour parks and meet with the consultant. -Park Rules Enforcement Commissioner Wright reported the sub-committee has met and discussed having monitors in our parks. He stated staff would like a recommendation from the Commission to have staff move forward to advise Council about funding needed to have 3 to 5 park enforcement staff. M/S Joseph-Hover/Truscelli: To recommend that staff move forward in discussions with Council about the energizing of Park Pal Program, desire to have open communication with new Police Chief and the need for funding of 3 to 5 park enforcement staff. Motion passed.
