Park and Recreation Commission Page 2 <br />Minutes of February 28, 2007 <br />ITEM 2 -REVIEW OF DEPARTMENTAL CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT <br />PROGRAM REQUESTS <br />Superintendent Hover reviewed the Department's Capital Improvement <br />Program (CIP) requests for Fiscal Year 2007-2008. <br />ITEM 3 -REVIEW AND PRIORITIZE 2007 COMMISSION WORK PLAN <br />The Commissioners discussed the ten (10) items on their 2007 Work Plan <br />and came to consensus on how to prioritize the items. A list of the prioritized <br />items along with completion dates will be given to the Commissioners at their <br />March meeting. The items include: <br />• Park Rules and Enforcement <br />• Solari Windmill <br />• Park Standard and Development Fee <br />• Hoover Park Renovation <br />• Veterans Memorial Building Scoping <br />• Strategic Plan Update <br />• Park and Recreation Element to General Plan <br />• Partnership Recognition Activities <br />• Cargill Land Question <br />ITEM 4 -COMMISSION PARTICIPATION WITH A FLOAT IN THE 4T" <br />OF JULY PARADE <br />Commissioner Joseph-Hover stated she will not be available to participate in <br />the building of the 4t" of July Float this year. The Commissioners decided to <br />take a year off and resume their participation in the 2008 Parade. <br />ITEM 5 -SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />-Park Needs Assessment <br />This sub-committee will be meeting on March 1 to tour parks and meet with <br />the consultant. <br />-Park Rules Enforcement <br />Commissioner Wright reported the sub-committee has met and discussed <br />having monitors in our parks. He stated staff would like a recommendation <br />from the Commission to have staff move forward to advise Council about <br />funding needed to have 3 to 5 park enforcement staff. <br />M/S Joseph-Hover/Truscelli: To recommend that staff move forward <br />in discussions with Council about the energizing of Park Pal Program, <br />desire to have open communication with new Police Chief and the <br />need for funding of 3 to 5 park enforcement staff. <br />Motion passed. <br />
