9A
Page 89
However, traffic safety is a different issue. Those of us who live and walic a}ong Kentfieid Avenue
have long been concerned about the speed of traffic on this street. While the additional traffic
represented by 885 Woodside Road may add mare speeders, the problem exists due to the
driving habits of the current residents, especialiy those living in Kentfisid Commons, who have the
longest distances to cover after tuming off Woodside Raad.
In summary, we have no objection to the proposed development, and in fact see it as a welcome
improvement to the current condition of the property. However, we would like to see some fraffic
speed mitigations tied to the approval of this project. Specifically, moderately sized speed bumps
along Hargan and Kentfield Avenues would be desirable to insure that speeds along those streets
are safe for all residents in the area.
RespectFuily yours,
John and Sherry Burr
305 Chelsea Way
Park Atherton Lake
Redwood City, CA 94061
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hanorable Mayor Pierce and Council Members:
I urge your support for the approva] of tllis project at your ApriI 9th Councii Meeting. This
project wi11 be a great henefit to the City for the following reasons:
• The City needs more housing. We are a net importer of commuters, which tllis project
will ease.
• This project is located on a State Highway, a major transit corridor. We need to think
beyond the gasoline internal conbustion enine for the next generation's salce.
. The proposed project exceeds all the planning department metrics: height, floor area,
parking spaces, lot coverage, open space. Itneets the density per acre in the Precise
plan. The applicant has worked diligentIy with your staff to create a design that exceeds
your planning requirements.
• Traffic ixnpacts are minimal and the lowest of any alternative use. This is after all a State
I-ighway.
I am the manager for my famiIy's property at 910 Marshall. We have been following the
development of the Dwntown Precise I'lan and are fully in support of this vision for the City. A
1{cjLvfI1pO11eTlf 1G i1'le DOWIItOWT'i13ia iS husing at heights and densities nat cuctly sen in tlie
City. We see yaur support of this project, which is a nudge toward these increased densities, as
ai indicator for your eventuaI support for ihe housing densities in the Dawntown Plan.
My connection to Redwood City goes bacic several generations. Stafford Park was donated to the
City by my mother's family and both my parents were raised in Redwood City. I arn personally
familiar with the development of this area sincc the 1950's, so can attest this project will be a
great benef t to the City.
Sincerely,
Bill Daley
Marshall Square Associates
1229 Burliigame Ave; Suite 5
Burlingame,CA 94010 b.daleycminds,prin .m
